Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter franchises became so popular because they embraced audiences through different entertainment mediums: casuals knew him from films, while fans could explore his universe through various novels and games. Reaching different mediums is also the dream of the most popular battle royale game developers on Earth.

Since last December, 1.0 PlayerUnknown ’s Battlegrounds version was finally released on Steam and Xbox One via Xbox Game Preview. In its nine-month journey as the title of early access, PUBG has become the most played game on Steam (past a total of 20 billion hours) and brings together more than 20 million gamers. But the ambition of PUBG Corporation does not stop there.

Speaking to InvenGlobal, Chang Han Kim as the CEO of PUBG Corp. expressed his desire that the PlayerUnknown ’Battlegrounds franchise could appear on other entertainment mediums. Director Brendan Greene had indeed revealed plans to direct PUBG to become an eSport game, but Han Kim also hoped that the franchise would appear as a film, drama series, or cartoon / animation.

This is not just wishful thinking. Kim acknowledged that his team had received several collaborative invitations from Hollywood and Netflix to develop adaptation films. Unfortunately, the CEO has not told whether PUBG Corp. agree to the request or not. Even so, Han Kim's comments indicated the opening of the opportunity. According to him, PUBG Corp. ‘Has a dream to build a game-based culture through a number of different methods.

Not only PUBG Corp. who have ambitions like this. In 2016, Respawn Entertainment had a plan to work on the TV series Titanfall. But for a long time there was no news about it, and the opportunity became smaller after the developer was acquired by EA.

Since launching officially on Steam, reportedly revenue from PUBG games continues to grow. Initially, the invasion of gamers had a chance to cause server disruption, but for now the developer has managed to overcome almost all of the obstacles and the players have begun to respond positively again. The last aspect that needs to be addressed by PUBG Corporation is to polish the latest desert map. They are gathering input from gamers to correct their deficiencies.

Today, the biggest challenge for developers is filtering different opinions from veterans participating in the test server and gamers who have just joined after the official release of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on PC.
